The Site Supply Company respects its staff and seeks ways to improve their working environment. This policy sets out our standards for employment and working conditions.
1. Freely chosen employment
- All workers should work of their own free will, with no forced labour of any kind.
- No monetary deposits should be required or deducted from pay.
- Employers should not retain original identity documents or similar documents.
- Workers should be free to leave employment after reasonable notice without losing pay or benefits to which they are entitled.
2. Safe and hygienic working conditions
We actively manage health and safety risks arising from machinery and tools, production materials and chemicals, fire, noise, dust, temperature extremes, building structures and sanitary facilities.
We provide appropriate personal protective equipment, machine guarding, job and safety training, escape routes, firefighting equipment, ventilation, safety notices and information, first aid materials and qualified personnel. We maintain accident and illness records and take corrective action.
Facilities include clean toilets, washing and changing facilities, safe food storage, free tea and coffee and unlimited drinking water.
3. No child labour
All workers should be aged 16 or over.
4. Pay and employment terms
We pay all workers above the applicable legal minimum wage for a standard working week.
Written employment terms are provided before employment begins and clearly explain pay and overtime arrangements. Payslips show how pay has been calculated, including basic hours, overtime hours and permitted deductions.
Only deductions permitted by law may be made. Pay deductions must not be used as disciplinary measures.
5. Working hours
Working hours should comply with national law and industry standards. Overtime should be voluntary and should not be a regular routine. We pay overtime at a premium rate.
6. Equal treatment
There should be no discrimination or preferential treatment on the grounds of sex, pregnancy or maternity, race, caste, national origin, religion, age, disability, marital status or political affiliation.
