A safety review should establish what is happening in the workplace, what needs attention and who will act. Use this short checklist to start a discussion with the person responsible for your arrangements.
Responsibilities and information
Is it clear who manages each part of the work? Do people know how to raise a concern? Are the relevant procedures accessible and understood by new starters, contractors and existing staff?
Risks and controls
Do assessments reflect the tasks currently being carried out? Check whether equipment, substances, staffing or working conditions have changed. Look at whether the controls work in practice, not just whether a document exists.
Training and equipment
Can people demonstrate the skills required for their tasks? Are equipment checks and maintenance organised? Where PPE is needed, check the selection, fit, instructions and replacement arrangements.
Actions and follow-up
Keep a short action list with owners and dates. Learn from near misses and incidents, and check the applicable reporting requirements through HSE. This checklist does not establish legal compliance; it helps identify where a more detailed review is needed.
