A construction order should reflect the site rules and the work each person will perform. A general list of popular products is a starting point for discussion, not a specification for every site.

Confirm the site requirements

Collect the required clothing and PPE standards, any colour rules and the tasks involved. Include visitors, temporary workers and specialist activities in the planning conversation.

Build kits around roles

Compare the head, eye, hearing, hand, foot and respiratory protection required for each activity. Check the individual product documentation and how the items will be worn together. Do not assume one kit covers all trades.

Plan for weather and wear

Consider seasonal layers, wet-weather arrangements, laundering and access to replacements. Take accurate sizes and allow time to resolve fit problems before people need the equipment.

Keep the order usable

Record approved product codes and the reason for each selection. Check quantities, delivery arrangements and storage with the site team. PPE belongs within the wider site safety arrangements, alongside the measures that prevent or reduce exposure to hazards.
