There is no universal shopping list of PPE that makes every workplace safe. Start with the tasks and hazards, then identify what protection remains necessary after other controls are considered.
Create a task-based list
Separate the needs of different roles and activities. A delivery yard, workshop, cleaning task and office do not automatically require the same kit. Use the workplace assessment to define the required protection before comparing products.
Check each product
Record the model, relevant performance information and sizes. Do not select a disposable glove, respirator or eye protector merely because it looks similar to another product. Check the documentation for the intended use.
Fit the person and the task
Trial the combination of equipment with wearers. Check movement, visibility and whether items interfere with one another. Required PPE must be suitable for the wearer, not simply available in the cupboard.
Plan the supply
Set up issue records, replacement arrangements, suitable storage and instructions for use. Keep everyday hygiene supplies distinct from PPE: a cleaning product or temperature check does not stand in for a workplace risk-control plan.
